Each year, the Foundation supports educational institutions that provide students across Canada a range of college and university scholarships. By placing a high value on character, entrepreneurial energy, and service to the community, the Foundation helps to position today’s young leaders for national and global success. From providing entry-level tuition to graduate-level research grants, the Foundation supports young Canadians who are pursuing a path to excellence across a range of disciplines.
Please note that the Foundation does not accept applications for scholarships. We recommend that you contact the awards office of the university or college directly to inquire about available assistance.
For 14 years, the Foundation worked in partnership with the Loran Scholars Foundation to deliver the W. Garfield Weston Awards. These awards recognized 409 outstanding college-bound students from across Canada who showed a strong commitment to their fields of study and who made positive contributions to their communities.
For 20 years, cohorts of highly talented and motivated students were chosen as W. Garfield Weston Scholars at Wilfrid Laurier University, each representing the best from the Arts, Science, Business and Music Faculties. Shared learning experiences and opportunities to travel overseas broadened students’ perspectives and motivated them to affect change in their home communities.
Following on from a long history of supporting 4-H youth to participate in international exchange opportunities, the Foundation now provides scholarships for 4-H Canada members at college or university. Scholars are active in their local or provincial 4-H clubs, and are studying Agriculture or related fields.
