The Garfield Weston Merit Scholarships for Colleges ("GWMSC") is organized in conjunction with The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation.

The GWMSC is designed to identify, recognize and reward well-rounded students who intend to undertake full-time study in a two or three year program leading to a diploma at a participating college.

The W. Garfield Weston Foundation initiated the GWMSC in 1998 as Canada's national merit scholarship for college bound students. Since its inception, the GWMSC has developed into one of the country's largest open awards programs.
