This 13,000-acre ranch is one of the best remaining examples of the semi-arid mixed grass prairie that originally covered more than 160 million acres. The ranch is a haven for wildlife rarely seen by most Canadians. Small herds of Pronghorn Antelope frequent the property and imperilled species such as the Burrowing Owl, Long-billed Curlew and Ferruginous Hawk are often sighted. In 2003, NCC introduced a heard of bison back onto the prairie. As native grazers, the bison will maintain and enhance the area’s biodiversity.
