In 1997, the Board of the Foundation decided that it should become
more proactive and more narrowly focused in its grant making. It was
therefore decided that the Foundation should direct major funding to
the work of The
Nature Conservancy of Canada. This organization aims to preserve
Canadas most ecologically significant lands, either through land
purchase, by accepting land donations, or by signing conservation easements.
Once the land is secure, management plans are developed to ensure its
protection for future generations.
