ENVIRONMENT

In 1997, the Board of the Foundation decided that it should become more proactive and more narrowly focused in its grant making. It was therefore decided that the Foundation should direct major funding to the work of The Nature Conservancy of Canada. This organization aims to preserve Canada’s most ecologically significant lands, either through land purchase, by accepting land donations, or by signing conservation easements. Once the land is secure, management plans are developed to ensure its protection for future generations.

The Foundation is proud to have helped protect Canada’s unique natural heritage in some of the most endangered areas across the country. Specifically, we have worked in New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta to save many rare and endangered areas for the benefit of Canadians, now and in the future.
